Inspiration From The Most Beautiful Of Gestures.

Rambling On… 20 March 2020.

I thought I’d tell you how my new series, Beautifully Imperfect came to be.

For my last birthday, my son and his fiancée gave me a necklace, of a broken chain by Bryan Anthony’s from the USA. There were two cards with words written on them and this is what they say.

The first card reads:
Let go of the idea of perfection.
You are not perfect.
You are real.
Let yourself be flawed and allow yourself to make mistakes.
Recognize that you’re not always going to have it all together.
Sometimes your heart is going to break, you are going to get hurt.
You are going to feel pain.
Don’t apologize for being broken— Every time you break you become a little more alive.
You become more open with yourself.
You become exposed to your sensibility.
Every crack tells you a little more about yourself.
Your strength.
Your courage.
Your tenacity.
What you’re made of.
Do not hide these pieces from the world.
They are a part of who you are.
You see, the most beautiful people are beautifully broken.
Their hearts are heavy, but they love the deepest.
They have seen the dark, but they appreciate everything that shines.
They’re compassionate, understanding, and empathetic.
Beautiful hearts just don’t happen.
And you my dear are going to show the world just how beautiful you are.

The second card reads:
This is your life.
Do what makes you happy. Change the things you can and let go of the things you can’t.
If there’s something you want, go and get it. If you have a dream, follow it.
Do not let fear hold you back.
Trust your instincts and believe in yourself, you are capable of more than you think.
When people tell you that you can’t, show them that you can.
There will be times when you fall, but you will stand again.
Protect your heart but recognize when to let it go.
Reminisce in the good times, but always look ahead.
Learn from your mistakes, but do not dwell on them.
Be confident in who you are, keep your head held high, and remember that you are beautiful.
Don’t be afraid to express how you feel.
Cry hard, laugh harder, and when you love—love with everything you’ve got.
Never settle.
Find your passion.
You can be whoever you want to be.
There are no set rules, there is only now.
This is your now.
This is your time.
This is your life.
And you only have one.
Make it count.

As you could imagine I was reduced to tears reading these wonderful heartfelt words, and after a wonderful day and pondering over the messages, I began to think about how to write about amazing, imperfect people into my stories.

The first book in the series Beautifully Imperfect: Joelle’s Saving Grace (Book 1) is up for pre-order and scheduled for release on April 3rd.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Stay safe, healthy and happy.

What Have I Been Reading?

I’ve nearly finished reading Leah Brooke’s Second Chance at Desire (Desire Oklahoma 14).

I really like how Talia Armstrong goes after what she wants and how she tries to tease and seduce Marshall, Joe and Carter Garrison into her bed for an affair. All four of the people involved are relationship shy after being hurt, but as they burn up the sheets, they can’t deny the emotional bond forming between them.

I love Ms. Brooke’s work and I love the town of Desire. If you haven’t read any of the stories in this series, give yourselves a treat, pick up a copy and be ready to be entertained.

I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next week.

Love,

Becca Van XXOO
