Rambling On… 30 August 2019

This weekend, Sunday, is Father’s Day in Australia and my daughter is coming home. I’m not sure if she’s arriving on Saturday and staying the night or if she’s coming on Sunday for the day.

Either way, it will be great to see her again. I think she’s bringing her King Charles Cavalier, Max with her. He is such a sweetheart and likes to try and play with Toby. Poor old Toby isn’t too bothered with playing, but he likes Max. Although being a Beagle and a walking stomach, Toby is more often than not trying to get food from everyone. Not that he gets any until his mealtime, but he has to try.

Last Sunday hubby and I went for a drive into the Brisbane Ranges again. We found on an app that there are a couple of camping spots in the national park and went to investigate. Not that we’d ever camp there since it’s so close to home, but we satisfied our curiosity.

We bought some subway for lunch and sat at a bench picnic table to eat at Anakie Gorge. While the day was nice and sunny with lots of blue skies, the wind was a bit chilly. Nonetheless, we had a nice day. We even took a thermos of hot water as well as cups, tea and coffee.

It was wonderful to get out of the house.

I can’t wait until Saturday the 7th of September. Hubby and I will be hitting the road early for our trip.

I need to cook and freeze food so my man and I can take it away with us next weekend. I also have to go grocery shopping so that the freezer and pantry are stocked for my son and his fiancée. I’ll also be taking meat and veg to cook while away.

Two dishes I plan to cook during the week is my chicken and veg pasta bake. Usually, I cook enough to feed four of us two nights in a row. I’ll still be doing that, but I will be freezing two lots of two portions separately. I’ll leave one lot here for my son and his girl and take the other away with us.

I also thought about cooking some spaghetti bolognese sauce, freezing that and sealing it into vacuum sealed bags. I’m not sure if I’m going to do that though. Though we are still learning, I really enjoy the challenge of camp cooking, so these easy pre-cooked meals will be for convenience rather than having all our food ready to eat while away.

Thawing and heating will be easy since I can put the bagged food into a pot of water to heat it through, but I haven’t quite decided yet.

It will be nice to spend some alone time amongst the Australian bush to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary.

What Have I Been Writing?

I’ve just finished writing next months story, Pack Law 9: Reign of Terror. I didn’t think I was going to get this book finished by the end of the month, but I finally typed the last word yesterday. Hooray!

I’ve worked my arse off. Or should that be, my fingers to the bone?

In the last two months, I’ve actually written 198,093 words to complete three stories. That number doesn’t include the edits I’ve done, nor the synopsis and blurbs or the book covers.

I would have written in excess of 200,000 words. No wonder I’m so tired and had a migraine last night. Even though I’m exhausted, all that hard work is worth it. Other than edits I can now take most of September off to relax and rejuvenate and give my poor brain and fingers a rest.

Special Note: I am sending an email to Siren BookStrand regarding the next release on amazon. I feel one should have been released by now. I will let you know when I do.

What Have I Been Reading?

I finished reading Wrenching Fate: Paranormal Romance, Vampires. (Brides of Prophecy Book 1) by Brooklyn Ann and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

If I hadn’t felt subpar yesterday, I would have finished reading the story last night, but I picked up my Kindle and finished it off this afternoon before writing about it. I only had a chapter to go and was kind of sad that it ended.

Nevertheless, there are more books in this series, and I’ve purchased the second story.

I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next week.

Love,

Becca Van XXOO
