Busy Weekend. Socializing Is Exhausting.

Rambling On… 01 April 2022.

Busy Weekend.

Last weekend was quite busy for us. My husband had to work on Saturday morning, and I spent the morning catching up on housework. We had an early dinner late lunch of cheese toasties, or cheese toasted sandwiches as we needed to leave home around five in the afternoon to head to the suburbs of Melbourne for my niece’s engagement party.

We had a wonderful time catching up with family we hadn’t seen for a while and though we didn’t stay till the end of the night, leaving at around eleven in the evening made it a late night for us. We didn’t get home until around one in the morning and after having a cup of tea headed off to bed.

I’m one of those people who end up wired after a night out, so it took me a long time to wind down so I could sleep. I read for a couple of hours before I was tired enough to close my eyes and fall asleep. I swear my husband is like one of those dolls of old. He lies down, closes his eyes and is snoring seconds later. I’m envious of his ability to go to sleep so quickly.

Anyway, Sunday was also busy as my hubby’s parents were also in town and we were hosting a barbecue or as us, Aussies like to call it a barbie for my parents-in-law, my brother-in-law, and his wife. Even though it was a late night the night before, I was up early to cook the potatoes for a potato salad, prepare the mince for hamburger patties, make my own mayonnaise dressing and just get everything ready for the barbeque. Hubby cleaned up the outdoor dining area and cleaned the table and chairs leaving no trace of our friendly feathered visitors.

My son and his girl were also there.

Unfortunately, my daughter couldn’t make it. She ended up with a very bad cold and didn’t want to spread it around which we were and are appreciative of. Yes, she tested herself for COVID with a RAT test, but thankfully, it was negative.

We had a delicious lunch and sat talking until people started leaving at around five-thirty and six. It was a long day for me and my man since we were still tired from the night before, but we had a good weekend and loved seeing our family.

Because we were so weary we were both in bed by nine Sunday night and even I was able to fall asleep relatively easily. Socializing is exhausting.

I’m not sure what we’re doing this weekend, but we won’t be hosting any more barbies or entertaining since my husband’s parents are on their way back home to South Australia.

Maybe we’ll have a quiet one and just do the usual stuff of housework, gardening, and the like.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Stay safe, sane, happy, and healthy.

What Have I Been Writing?

I finished writing Slick Rock 37: Fairy Tale Ending and sent it to Siren BookStrand. I have just signed the publishing contract. Thanks, Siren.

Slick Rock: 36 Angel is due to be released on the 25th of April. Slick Rock 37: Fairy Tale Ending is scheduled to be published on the 13th of May.

I have just started writing Slave Gold Elites 5. I haven’t written much as yet, but I thought I’d let you know that Elite Warrior Vipan Cantik is getting his story.

Janice W. from Canada and my editor both asked me to write this one. I wasn’t sure how I was going to do that since the enemy have been eradicated but I’ve found a way to write his story. Vipan deserves his HEA after the sacrifices he’s made and his bravery.

What Have I Been Reading?

Susan Stoker’s Searching for Lily (Eagle Point Search & Rescue Book 1)

I just finished reading Susan Stoker’s Searching for Lily (Eagle Point Search & Rescue Book 1).

Reading about Ethan “Chaos” Watson and Lily Ray kept me engaged the whole way through the book.

I really enjoyed this story.

I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next time.

Love,

Becca Van XXOO
