The Great Wet… Drying Options
Rambling On… 27 March 2021.
Yesterday afternoon, hubby and I had to go clothes dryer shopping. Though I don’t use my dryer much, it’s rained a fair bit in this part of the world lately.
The Great Wet…
However, we’ve been lucky and haven’t had anywhere near as much precipitation as Sydney, New South Wales, or Queensland. There has been a large low-pressure system along the top end of Australia and along the east coast. Hundreds of millimeters of rain have been dumped on numerous areas from the torrential rain causing widespread floods.
My heart goes out to all those people who’ve been affected by the continuous deluge. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes and some lost their houses. There was media footage of a house that had come loose from the ground and was floating down a river.
Drying Options
Because of the rain and the weather temperature not being cold, I needed to use my clothes airers under the pergola to get the washing dry. I also decided to use my dryer for the smaller items I could put in the dryer such as tea towels, underwear, socks, and such. The noise from the dryer drove me crazy. The ball bearings are shot and the screech the dryer made put my teeth on edge.
I asked my hubby if we could get a new one since there was no way we’d be able to get a twenty-year old dyer fixed because it was so old. He said yes.
Looking online, we ummed and ahhed over what to get and though the new technology was more expensive than getting a new dryer with older technology I think the decision we made was a good one.
We bought a heat pump dryer. This dryer has a condenser in it which removes water from the warm air from clothes and dries at the same time, but it doesn’t get too hot as older dryers do. Also, it has an eight-star energy rating compared to the older ones which if you were lucky was a two star.
Because the dryer is way more energy efficient may be in winter, I won’t have to have clothes on airers about the house while utilizing the heater.
I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the electricity bills to make sure the new dryer isn’t using too much power. If it does, I’ll go back to using the airers and only use the dryer in emergencies.
I’m really curious to find out if the heat pump dryer is as energy efficient as we’ve been told they are.
Time will tell.
Stay safe, sane, healthy, and happy.

What Have I Been Reading?
Last night I finished reading Blood Hunt: A Paranormal Romance, (Vampire Huntress Chronicles Book 1) by Jessica Wayne.
I really liked this story even though it wasn’t complete. There is a lot of action in this book and the sexual tension between the H and h builds slowly.
I will definitely be buying the next in the series even though I don’t know if the next story will be the last.
I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next week.
Love,
