Taking The Opportunity To Enjoy Life. 🛶
Rambling On… 04 March 2022.
Last week my man had a customer push him back another week because his client was dealing with delays.
Because of the schedule my husband had set up, and material shortages, he was left with two days he wasn’t able to work.
I’m sure you’re all wondering why he just didn’t bring another client’s job forward. He would have done that except the ensuing jobs were all about five or more days work. Plus, the ordering of Colourbond fencing materials, powder-coated metal needs to be done weeks in advance in the hope of getting the materials delivered on time, it wasn’t possible.
I’d finished my book and had submitted it to Siren as well as done a scheduled edit. So, instead of spending four days at home doing chores, my man and I packed up and headed off for a long weekend.
We chose a different spot and although it was still a few hours north of us where it would be warmer, it wasn’t the best place we’d ever chosen.
Gunbower Creek was full of algae and the water was way too still which meant it was a breeding ground for mosquitos. If we hadn’t left home late Wednesday night, we would have moved to another spot. We were eaten alive. My man reacts badly to mosquito bites and ended up with big itchy welts all over. I’m lucky, I just get small itchy lumps.
We stayed the night but first thing the next morning we packed up and moved on to a nicer place.
We drove for another hour and a half to the Barmah Lakes Campground. So beautiful and peaceful.
On the drive, we saw a family of emus, and a mob of kangaroos but since we were still driving we weren’t fast enough to capture them on our cameras. We also saw and heard lots of kookaburras.
There is nothing like the laugh of a kookaburra. They are amazing and it’s a delight to wake up to their songs even if it’s before six in the morning.
We bought ourselves an inflatable canoe before Christmas, but it didn’t arrive in time for our last break.
My man and I took it out in the lake and even though it was shallow, around hip height, we still wore life vests. I ended up breaking a paddle, however since it was one of those “screw it together yourself” types, we were still able to use it even if it was just one end.
We rowed the canoe to the river entrance the second time we took it out and went against the current for a couple of kilometres. It was hard work since it was hot and humid, and we haven’t done any canoeing for years.
However, we were smart because coming back was easy since we mostly just floated with the current. The inflatable canoe isn’t as good as a fibreglass one, but since it folds up into a bag we’re not adding too much weight considering we’re already loaded and towing and small caravan. We have legal weights we must adhere to as law in Australia and if you overload your car and or van you can be fined.
We’re definitely not overweight even with all the stuff we take.
We had a great time communing with nature and soaking in the peace and quiet.
Stay safe, sane, happy, and healthy.

What Have I Been Writing?
Last month I wrote and submitted Slick Rock 36: Angel to Siren BookStand for possible publication.
This story is about second chances and mending fences and the journey for Angela Wyman and her men to finding their happy ever after. It’s a rocky road for the three heroes, Stanford, Norton, and Donal Germaine but now that they have their Angel back in their life, they aren’t about to let her go again.

What Have I Been Reading?
I’ve just finished reading Eye of the Storm (Security Specialists International Book 1) by Monette Michaels.
Yes, I’ve read this story again, but I have to say it is one of my favourites and I felt like reading it once more. Enjoyable as always.
I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next week.
Love,
