Rambling On… 01 November 2019

Happy belated Halloween to all my American friends and anyone else who celebrates, (it’s becoming more popular here in Australia too). I hope you all had a great time trick and treating with your family’s, friends and loved ones.

Even though I’m not young, I don’t consider myself old. At least not yet.

Why is it that my elderly parents and elderly neighbour seem to be in sync with each other even though they don’t know each other?

It’s pretty strange to me that every time my parent’s visit, either my neighbour visited before them or half an hour or so later.

My son’s fiancée says it’s just downright creepy. Lol.

I have to say that sometimes I get a bit annoyed even if I don’t show it because when they visit my workday is interrupted. There’s one consolation though, my neighbour is no longer staying for two to three hours just to chat. Now she limits her interruption to approximately half an hour. Just long enough to have a cup of green tea before she heads off again.

Thankfully, my folks are no longer arriving in the middle of the day anymore either. I guess they got the message, I am not just home, I work at home…

They usually rock up between three and four in the afternoon, but they always stay for a couple of hours.

Since my mum has quite a few health problems, they have their main meal of the day for lunch and just snack at dinner time. I think they forget that even if I have finished work for the day, sometimes I’m still going when they get here, I have to put everything aside. Including cooking dinner for my own family.

It doesn’t matter so much this time of year since it’s daylight savings and we’re heading into summer to eat later than usual, but I don’t like eating too late either.

Never mind. It’s not a huge deal.

Things are going to be changing in my life too. My hubby is going to be starting a new enterprise very soon and though I’m excited for him and with him, I’m also very nervous.

I’ll tell you more about what’s happening in my next newsletter.

I can’t spill all the beans too early or I’ll have nothing to talk to you all about since my week. Generally, my week only consists of work and keeping the house.

We’ve hit summer early this year and I think we’re going to be in for a long hot one. Yesterday the mercury reached 34 degrees C and today it’s 33.

We haven’t had much of a build up for summer and we aren’t even in summer yet. I just hope the countryside doesn’t dry out too much too quickly because if it does, there are going to be a lot of bushfires.

I don’t live surrounded by bush, but I hope the people who do live in the country and amongst the trees have been vigilant about clearing away as much flammable vegetation detritus as possible.

You can never be too prepared.

What Have I Been Writing?

I’m writing Slave Gold Dimensions 3. I decided that a little fantasy, sci-fi was in order this month.

I love writing my Slick Rock stories and for all my other series but the urge to continue with this book which I started last month before I changed to writing Slick Rock 27 when the urge to write Jacquie’s story wouldn’t leave me alone.

I had 2000 thousand words up which made it a little easier to start on this manuscript again. The story is already starting to take shape and I’m hoping to write another story this month as well, but don’t hold me to that.

I don’t know how long the book I’m currently working on will be, or what each day will bring.
