I Hope You Had A Good Easter 🐣🐰

Rambling On… 22 April 2022.

Happy Belated Easter Everyone.

I hope you all enjoyed the Easter holiday with your family and friends.
 
My daughter came to visit on Good Friday and stayed the night. We had a delicious barbecue meal of prawns or as you Americans call them, shrimp, and fish with salad. My son had the day off and his girlfriend was here too. We had a really wonderful time catching up and being together.

Even though Easter was a long weekend, we usually avoid going away over this holiday break since it’s also usually school holidays and everyone is out and about camping and getting away from home.
 
I like people but I like my peace and quiet more and just communing with nature. It’s relaxing and rejuvenating.
So instead of going camping, hubby and I decided to tackle a project we’d been talking about for a while.

I wanted to strip down and paint our bedside drawers and tallboy to give them a more modern look and a new lease of life. So that is what we did. It took us three days of sanding, coating a couple of coats of oil-based primer, more sanding, more panting. I have no idea how many coats of paint we ended up doing but the end results were so worth it.

The drawers and the cabinets we painted white gloss and the top of them we painted a dark grey gloss colour. I think the furniture looks great but now we need to paint the walls in our bedroom. I don’t know when we’re going to do that, but one day.

We have a few other projects that need to be done but we’ll get there eventually.

I also want to paint my kitchen cabinets and my benchtops as well as get the door handles powder coated black. I don’t know when we’ll make this happen, but hopefully not too long into the future. My kitchen cupboards are a brown colour and though they don’t look bad, I’m not a fan of brown. I want to paint my cupboards white and have black door handles and the counters or benchtops I want a dark grey colour. We’re going to paint the bathroom cupboards and benches the same as the kitchen.

There is actually specialised paint for this job. Though it will be a lot of work, painting is way cheaper than getting a new kitchen. We got a quote for doing a partial renovation in our kitchen years ago and I nearly fell over when I heard the cost. The company we went to was dreaming if he thought we were going to pay twenty-five grand for a partial change. It would probably have been cheaper to gut the kitchen and start over, but I didn’t want to do that. I would rather utilise what we already have and give it a more modern look by painting it.

There are ways around spending thousands of dollars to make something look nicer and new.

When my son eventually moves out, we’re going to replace the carpets in all the bedrooms which are all a green hue—not a disgusting green but not to my taste—and have blue grey carpet laid.

What Have I Been Writing?

I’m still writing Slave Gold Elites 5 Vipan’s story. I’ve found it difficult to work this month since we’ve had a couple of public holidays as well as Easter. My hubby has been home more this month too, since he’s had difficulty getting supplies to do his job.

I haven’t finished Vipan’s story yet, but I will have it done by the end of the month.

What Have I Been Reading?

To be honest I haven’t read anything new. I’ve been really tired and even though I’ve tried to read after only one page I’ve been struggling to keep my eyes open.

I have re-read one book over the last few weeks which for me is unusual. I read every night and usually get through 2-3 books a week. Maybe next month I feel more energetic and will get through more reading.

I will leave it there for now.
