A Short Break. We Didn’t Break Any Rules. 😁
Rambling On… 27 August 2021.
We had a week away and it was just what the doctor ordered.
My hubby and I had to change our plans because we knew the state and territory borders weren’t going to open anytime soon. We decided on the spur of the moment, two days before we left to pack up and head out for a week off.
We headed north to the Kulkyne National Park on the Murray River about twenty minutes or so outside of Mildura. After the 5 hours plus drive, we had a great time just talking and relaxing, playing games of scrabble and cards.
We even got a bit tipsy since we weren’t driving and let me tell you, trying to play scrabble under the influence was funny. My man was making up words that didn’t exist. It was hilarious. He even beat me once, for the first time ever and of course, he couldn’t stop gloating. I applauded him because he played the best game I’ve ever seen him play. I beat him every other time though.
English isn’t his forte but let me tell you he runs rings around me with math. I hated math in school and still hate it. That doesn’t mean I can’t add, subtract, divide and multiply. It just means it takes me longer to figure things out. I love a calculator. Don’t mention calculous or trigonometry to me though because my eyes would probably haze over.
We Didn’t Break any Rules.
Anyway, we had a really nice relaxing time. We were also lucky that we left home on Thursday morning because on Saturday our whole state went into lockdown again. 7.0. We didn’t move more than five kilometres from where we’d set up camp, but we didn’t pack up and head home either. We stayed right where we were until the following Wednesday.
We were hoping to get two more extra days in since my husband’s next client hadn’t filled in the paperwork, signed the contract, for him to start another job on Thursday. However, that changed on Tuesday night, so we didn’t get another couple of days away from home.
Nevertheless, I am extremely grateful for the break we had.
We know there isn’t any likelihood of us being able to travel to Darwin in the Northern Territory anytime soon so we’re putting that big trip off until the end of April and the start of May next year. Hopefully, by then the majority of the people will be vaccinated and there will be no more lockdowns.
We can only hope.
Janice, I’m sending you my thoughts, prayers, and hugs. I hope you’re on the road to recovery and feeling better, xxoo.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Stay safe, sane, happy, and healthy.
Love Becca Van xxoo.
What Have I Been Writing?
I started writing another Slave Gold series but so far haven’t got many words down. I’m also not sure I like what I’ve written, since it’s been over a week since I’ve worked, I’m going to have to re-read what I’ve put down.
I spent Thursday unpacking from our trip and Friday doing the washing and catching up on chores.
Monday I will be back at my desk and back to work.

What Have I Been Reading?
I’ve finished reading, At any Price: A Billionaire Auction Romance, (Gaming The System Book 1), by Brenna Aubrey.
I really liked this book and the characters. This was an enjoyable read. I was able to purchase this book for free from Amazon. There are another eight books in this series and from what I can gather the stories are all about the same hero and heroine. I was hooked enough by the first book to buy the second.
I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next week.
Love,
Becca Van XXOO
