Rambling On… 03 August 2019
As you all know from my last newsletter, I’m hoping to take the whole of September off. We’ll at least two weeks anyway. I’ll have to see how things pan out.
Hubby and I will be celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
We tossed around a few ideas on how to spend our celebration. At first, we thought about flying to Darwin or Broome in the Northern part of Australia, hiring a camper van for $1 a day or $5 a day, depending on the availability and size of vehicle and seeing parts of my country neither of us had seen.
The reason for the cheap fees is because camper van companies try to get their vehicles from one town to another after they’ve been hired and used, and ready for their next customer. I think you have something similar in the US. Anyway, I ummed and aahed over it and realised we’d be rushing to get from one place to another with a time limit.
Our country is vast and to see things along the way while driving the roads in the top end—the Northern Territory of Australia and or Western Australia—you’d need at least six weeks to a few months to explore.
When I go on a holiday I don’t like to be rushed. I want to take my time and explore an area before moving on. So, after another discussion with my man we vetoed the camper van hire idea.
I am really, really looking forward to going camping and have solitude in amongst the gum trees, the eucalypts and other native Australian Flora.
We’ll be heading north to hopefully warmer climes. Our first stop will be Barmah which is just over the border from Victoria, into New South Wales (NSW).
We’ve been to the Barmah Lakes camping area once before and I loved it. The grounds are large and spacious and since it’s a free camping area I’m hoping there won’t be many, if any other people around. I’m sure you’ve guessed by now that my man and I like peace and quiet and to commune with nature to rejuvenate.
The next stop will be outside of Hay in NSW. I’ve never been to Hay and if I have, I don’t remember.
We’ll be travelling in a triangle pattern but no matter where we land, we’ll be camping next to water. We do take our own drinking water in a food grade 60 litre bladder, but we used river water to heat and shower with as well as wash other things.
Where we land and stay will depend on how nice the camping areas are.
After Hay we’re planning on heading toward the Murrumbidgee Valley. I don’t think I’ve been here before either and I know my man hasn’t. Kyalite and Torrumbarry are also possibilities.
I know I’m wishing my life away. Well, August at least, so my other half and I can head off for some alone time.
It always amazes me how much better I feel after going away even if it is just for the weekend.
Getting away from the stresses of everyday life even if it’s free camping. It is as good if not better than an expensive holiday.
You all will probably get sick of hearing about my eagerness for my trip over the next four weeks, maybe you’re even sick of it now, but since I’ve been working so much, I haven’t got much else to talk about.
What Have I Been Writing?
Jodi’s story was just begging to be told.
A few of you might be pleased to know that I’m writing Slick Rock 26.
I’ve been working hard over the last month and yes into this month too, even if it’s only early days in August. I’m about halfway into this story and am hoping to finish before mid-August so I can write my quota for September.

What Have I Been Reading?
I’ve just finished reading Anna Hackett’s Undiscovered (Treasure Hunter Security Book 1)
I loved this story. It had plenty of action and the characters were well developed. If you like romance books full of action, steamy sex scenes and HEA’s then I’d recommend this book to read.
Who am I kidding? Every book Ms. Hackett writes are an engrossing and a joy to read.
I will leave it there for now.
Enjoy your week ahead, until next week.
Love,
Becca Van XXOO
